Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me 'till I die
Meet you on the other side

There are an overwhelming number of photo books to choose from, either technical books or portfolios of other photographers' work. Both types can teach you a lot. The book below are ones I recommend. I will update the list as I discover new ones worthy of mention.
A great book for when you are starting out, and have learned your way around the controls of the camera, but are still not sure about how to translate this into shaping the images you make.
In this first very inspiring book David Ward explores human perception and the creative process and why photographers make images.
Makes you think about photography from a more than a simple "rule of thirds" perspective by studying the landscape photography essentials; simplicity, ambiguity and beauty.
Photo essay by the Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson portraying the people and nature of the islands in the North Atlantic in dramatic images.
Renowned for his pioneering work in color photography Eliot Porter's photos are exceptional.
I am a little partial, since this a book on the part of Sweden where I regularly go trekking. However even if you never been there yourself, I am sure you will enjoy the spectacular images of this arctic landscape.
A collection of his best pictures shot between commercial assignments. I especially like his ability to spot subtle humorous situations.
