Mammals

Mammals are not a large group with only about 5,400 species, but it is very diverse. Most mammals are terrestrial, but some, like whales are adapted for an aquatic life. Mammals range in size from a tiny bat weighing only 1.5 g to giant 100 ton whales. They have conquered a wide range of habitats including the polar seas, high mountains, deserts, and tropical jungles.
