Spiders belong to the arthropods, a phylum that also includes insects and crustaceans. A spider have eight legs, and mouth parts that inject venom.

Spiders exist worldwide and on every continent except Antarctica. They are found in almost every type of habitat with the exception of air and sea. Approximately 40,000 spider species have been recorded so far.
